2nd International Conference on “Recent Advances in Functional Materials (RAFM)- 2024
The conference titled Recent Advances in Functional Materials (RAFM-2024) held from March 14th to 16th, 2024, was a significant gathering within the materials science community. Hosted by the Department of Physics, IQAC, and DBT Star College Scheme at ARSD College, University of Delhi, the event adapted to global circumstances by being conducted online. Dr. Manish Kumar and Prof. Vinita Tuli led the organization as Convener and IQAC Coordinator, respectively, aiming to create a platform for the exchange of ideas, discussions on recent advancements, and the fostering of collaborations in the field of functional materials.
The conference featured an array of distinguished speakers, comprising one keynote lecture, seven plenary talks, and fifty-one invited lectures. Prof. Jonathan Guerrero Sanchez from the Centro de Nanocienciasy Nanotecnología at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México delivered the keynote address, setting the tone for the conference by discussing the latest breakthroughs and future directions in functional materials research.
Attendees from various countries, including the Philippines, Austria, Mexico, the USA, Taiwan, South Korea, and others, contributed to the diverse exchange of ideas and perspectives. With over 300 participants, the conference provided an inclusive platform for knowledge sharing and networking.
Throughout the three-day event, more than 200 oral presentations covered a broad spectrum of topics within the field of functional materials. These presentations showcased the latest innovations, methodologies, and discoveries, spanning areas such as nanomaterials, energy storage devices, biomaterials, and semiconductor materials, highlighting the interdisciplinary nature of functional materials research.
A notable aspect of the conference was the opportunity it provided for young researchers and students to present their work alongside established experts. The inclusion of oral presentations served as a valuable platform for emerging scholars to showcase their research, receive feedback, and connect with peers and mentors in the field.
The conference proceedings are scheduled for publication in reputable journals indexed by SCOPUS, including IONICS and Current Natural Science & Engineering, published by Springer Nature. This publication avenue will ensure the dissemination of conference findings to a wider audience, contributing to the advancement of knowledge in the field of functional materials.
In summary, RAFM-2024 served as a dynamic forum for advancing the frontiers of functional materials research. By bringing together leading experts, aspiring researchers, and industry professionals from around the world, the conference facilitated meaningful discussions, collaborations, and knowledge exchange. Events like RAFM-2024 play a crucial role in shaping the future of materials science and engineering as the field continues to evolve.
